Well, Christmas in August comes a week from now so if anybody feels like showering me with gifts, here is a handy how-to guide to make shopping as quick and painless as possible. Like getting a tetanus shot.
A New Video Card - I love my new computer, don't get me wrong, but the video card, while passable, is quickly becoming obsolete. It got me through Half-Life 2 and Doom 3, but in the future I'll need a little more beef if I want to run things at big resolutions. This one is one I have been looking at long and hard and, if I don't get it for my birthday, I might buy it myself. I've always liked GeForce cards. However, this one isn't too horrible, either.
Poker Shirts - There are a number of sites on the internet that offer cheeky, cheesy t-shirts at affordable price points. Sites such as Poker Wear and Poker For Pros have a nice selection, but there are a tonne more out there now that poker is officially the biggest thing since Andre the Giant.
Various CDs, books, DVDs, etc. - For a partial list, there's always my Amazon wish list. Highlights include The Dead Zone on DVD - one of the better Sci-Fi shows I've seen in a while, and Mad About You, one of the most consistently funny programs of the '90s, as well as old favourites, Sports Night and The West Wing, which I have just never gotten around to picking up on my own.
Trivial Pursuit Pop Culture II - Now the Trivial Pursuit guys could have easily gone the easy route and released an 'expansion' pack with just a new DVD and new question-cards for twenty bucks (a la the 'Scene It? Sequel Pack') but, nope... in order to squeeze as much blood from the stone as possible, they release an entirely new game. I still want it, though. ... Greedy bastards.
Gift certificates and cash are fine, but honestly, I don't really 'need' anything this year. It's a pretty peculiar feeling.
